Kate Rakoczy is a former federal prosecutor and experienced trial attorney. Her practice currently focuses on representing victims of anti-American terrorist attacks and human trafficking in lawsuits against entities and individuals that have allegedly aided and abetted foreign terrorist organizations.
Prior to joining Sparacino PLLC, Ms. Rakoczy served sixteen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, where she investigated and tried complex criminal matters involving cyber-enabled wire and mail fraud, bank fraud, healthcare fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, money laundering, homicides, and other violent crimes. She served in supervisory positions throughout the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including most recently as chief of the Fraud Unit, responsible for all federal fraud investigations and cases prosecuted by the office.
Ms. Rakoczy is a seasoned trial attorney, having tried more than 40 cases to verdict, including over 30 jury trials, and delivered 10 oral arguments in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. She has been recognized for her advocacy skills and service, including through her receipt of the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service; the D.C. AUSA Association’s John Evans and Victor Caputy Award for Outstanding Advocacy; three U.S. Attorney’s Award for Exceptional Performance as an AUSA; and two FBI Service Awards.
